Running synaptic as superuser on Ubuntu Artful Daily Build results in an error specifying the following:

I'm not running Wayland. In GDM I checked, it isn't selected. So if it is
running Wayland, there is a bug in GDM. I had tried it on Wayland, but then
went back to using XWindows.
