Bug Description

I have followed the guide (Getting started with Juju and LXD) letter by letter but when trying to create a new lxd machine using the following command:

juju add-machine --series precise

you get the following message when running `juju status`:

Machine State DNS Inst id Series AZ Message
16 down pending precise no matching agent binaries available

And it stays like this forever.
It's not possible to `juju ssh` into the machine, as it will give "ERROR no avilable address(es)".

Provisioning machines for other series works fine.

I need a machine with this series to run the phpmyadmin charm.

I am running Juju 2.2 (2.2.1-xenial-amd64) and using lxd locally.

Precise is no longer a supported series as of a few months ago.
Can you link to the guide so that we can make sure to update it? Typically
you shouldn't need to specify a series, but if you do, then trusty/xenial
are likely to be better targets.

The guide probably does not need updating.

I am trying to deploy the official phpmyadmin charm, but it needs a machine with Precise. I imagine this charm is used by a lot of people, and people updating Juju will also encounter this problem.

If Precise won't be supported any more, the phpmyadmin charm will have to be updated, as it currently doesn't support anything higher than Precise.

I have added phpmyadmin project to this bug report.

As this issue needs to be resolved on the charm side, I am closing this bug for juju project.

Changed in juju:
