Bug Description

Since good and popular palettes like Pantone, Trumatch,
Toyo, etc. are missing on open-source applications, and
it seems to be not very ethic distributing patented
files, i think it's no problem providing converters can
convert these ones from .acf and .bcf Freehand's colour
palette files to .gpl palettes used on Inkscape and Gimp

The only problem is about Freehand and Illustrator
being most focused on CMYK colours, and Inkscape,
because the svg defaults, more based on RGB, even these
converters targeting to extract only the RGB colours,
the result may be not that good as expected - it's a
kind of 'better-than-nothing' solution...

The usage for this converters is 'python acf2gpl_rgb.py
test1.acf > test1.gpl' or 'python bcf2gpl_rgb.py
test2.bcf > test2.gpl' - as always, for avoiding
mistakes, get sure you have a backup of all stuff
you're converting from.

Posting these converters, i'd like to ask colour
researchers to develop open-source and patent-free
palettes (solid colour, cmyk, rgb, cie-lab, etc.) would
face in quality those ones from Pantone and others.

This would be good to base an Inkscape extension on it,
would you be so glad and convert these python scripts into
python extensions please? They could be then included in
Effects or File-Open/Import menu probably

maybe even seperate out the logic and provide one wrapper to
use these directly as scripts and another to use them fully
integrated inside Inkscape? (and perhapse even yet another
wrapper to use them integrated inside the GNU Image
Manipulation Program?)

thanks for helping out with Inkscape

I want to include this, but wouldn't this be better served
to be its own project and or get released to help out
several projects? Maybe this would be better released
through the Create Project (http://create.freedesktop.org/)
as part of the release?

I think this seems more fitting. Nitro, what do you think?

Otherwise, it fits into Inkscape best as an extension IMO.

I'm assigning ACSPIKE because he is master of extensions and
could help point you in the right direction.
