Bug Description
I have a very ancient IBM (not Lenovo) Thinkpad x30 onto which I tried to install Peppermint eight. I was using a bootable USB stick made with Rufus, that has worked fine as a live boot on other systems. Also, the laptop in question had had a successful install of Lubuntu so I don't think it was a hard drive failure on the laptop, either. Anyway, twice in a row while attempting to install Peppermint eight the install crashed while it was copying files to my hard drive, stating it was an input/output error. The crash occurred a little more than halfway through copying the files. I hope this info is helpful. Both times there was a prompt generated by the install requesting me to file a bug report. I greatly appreciate all those who work on developing Linux so if there's anything else I can do to help you test or report, please let me know. Kind regards, Sara Ann
I/O errors are nearly always a failing drive (either HDD or USB stick), but theoretically it could also be that the USB is dropping out mid copy for some reason.
It would probably be a god idea to raise this on the support forum: /forum. peppermintos. com

where we'll try to figure out if it's a bug or not.
