Bug Description

You newer know when your document or template created using ubuntu family fonts will crash.
You can save a flawless document and after reopening it within minutes it's crashed. The text is scattered around and you can make it useful again only by changing the size of the font and/or changing font into anything outside the ubuntu family. Sometimes after you change fonts like that and then change the font back to ubuntu everything is ok.
Sometimes the problem can be temporarily solved by logging out from Windows user account/ ubuntu session. But that's not always true. Sometimes when a document is scattered in Open Office - opening it in Libre office shows perfect, flawless document.
It's affecting both: Libre and Open Office programs on both: Windows (XP, Vista,7, 10) and Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS as well as Mint and Xubuntu). It's a problem when creating, editing and reading a file but also when printing it.
The problem occurs when text is scattered - then the printout will be affected as well. When file looks ok - print will be fine. Used printers: HP laser and ink printers and OKI laser printers.

It would be nice to be sure how your document will look like in a moment. There are days and weeks without a single error. But then again there are days you can't work because documents simply won't come up without errors.
This is the one and only font that makes things like that. I would really like to avoid changing it to another one as I use it in many work related tasks.

Why do you think this is a bug in the fonts and not in the application you’re using?

no longer affects: ubuntu-font-family-sources (Ubuntu)

Because it affects ONLY this font. And I don't think deleting the bug report will delete the problem.

I would advise you to check if the problem persists with the latest version of LibreOffice (and not OpenOffice, which is practically abandonware). Newer LibreOffice versions use HarfBuzz for layouting, which should fix many bugs. If you can still reproduce the problem, please report it at bugs.documentfoundation.org with clear steps to reproduce.

Most of this bug report matches video-driver/bitmap cache corruption.

The part of does not is "when text is scattered - then the printout will be affected as well."

Could a scan of one of these print outs be uploaded and attached to the bug report please.

Just yesterday, on a fresh W10 the problem reappeared again.

Computers that are experiencing this problem are mostly older machines, but with different hardware.
Also a temporal solution was to totally uninstall Oo from all machines and reinstall the newest version only (previously Oo was updated many times without a complete uninstall). This gave us quite some time of all files working properly, until like last week, when now and then files are being scattered again.
We've also noticed that when a file is created on one machine, then saved to our server and then opened on another one, then the chance is higher it will be corrupted.

We're using a lot of templates, that have been created in Oo even 6-7 years ago and then have been updated (data changed, fonts changed, styles and other formatting changed) over the years. Will these old templates work fine in Libreoffice? Thus for the compatibility assurance we're using Libre on some newer machines and OO on older ones.

and above all that ... trying to install the newest Libreoffice gave ma quite some headache ... with installation resulting in plane, no text, menus and some other problems... so I downgraded and it seems to work.

I'll add a scan an affected document and put it here as soon as I'll be able to.
