Hello, your logs indicate some problems. It sure looks like your /usr/sbin/adduser and /usr/sbin/addgroup programs have been modified and that appears to be preventing other programs from running correctly. Repairing this may be difficult depending upon when those programs were corrupted and what might have tried to use them in the meantime.

Perhaps this is accidental and perhaps this is malicious. (If malicious it's very sloppy.)

If you think this is accidental try:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall adduser

The logs:

i suspect it was malicious, pretty sure it was my teacher in my IT program.
thank you for looking into it and getting back to me. i was having quite a
hard time removing the issue but as i need my system for school i wiped and
re installed losing my data in the process. is there any tips you might be
able to give me in securing my system a little better? currently i use
arpalert, arpwatch, chrootkit, and lynis. any pointers or help would be
greatly appreciated. again thank you for your time.
