The problem has been fixed upstream in version 1.9.1.

Gunnar, would you mind if I turn your package into a NMU in Debian (just tweaking the changelog to point to unstable, and closing the Debian bug, I'd upload to DELAYED/2) and upload there, then have it auto-synced in ubuntu?
