pidgin doesn't work with yahoo messenger

I don't know how you guys set up pidgin to make it work for yahoo messenger, but it gets on my nerve trying sorting out this problem, also i'm wondering if it is not because my OS is ubuntu?
If anayone can help me, it would be gratefull.

I case this would help you, in order to activate a Yahoo account properly, you just have to set a yahoo account in pidgin, type your username ( without the @yahoo.com ), your password, and your alias ( same thing as your nickname ). After this, don't forget to check enabled for this account and it will connect to yahoo servers.

Also my yahoo account finsishes with @yahoo.co.uk maybe that explain?

The fact that you use a yahoo account that end with @yahoo.co.uk seems to explain this problem! I can now reproduce the problem here. Therefore, I set back this bug to new. We need to get more information about how to fix this bug. Most probably that yahoo.co.uk uses different servers name than yahoo.com. If you have more informations about this problem, can you post this information here in this bug report?

It's working finally, but i don't understand why it wasn't working before. I

for whatever reason, do you have an idea about it?
Like avn dock, i would love to have it on my desktop!

I'm glad to see that it finally works :)

I'm not really a simdock expert but I'm sure that there are answers about that if you search through online ubuntu documentation or forums or with Google. Since simdock isn't included in official ubuntu repositories, I can't tell you if it will works like a charm. But I'm sure that it would be a great idea to include this package in universe, I'll look to see what I can do around that.

Also, I've talked to you like if we were on a forum on this bug because it's set to invalid but I don't want to show you a bad example, bug report should normally just contains pertinents comments about the bug itself. If you work on future bug on launchpad, be sure not to use it like a discussion but more like a bug tracker which must contains only important informations. Just to say I've looked at simdock and successfully builded it with Hardy dependencies, but it has serious bugs. Will probably be usable soon but not yet.. I'll also try on Hardy.

I'm working on it to bring it before Hardy hit stable since needed libraries are available and that simdock have a good behavior with Hardy yet.

Hi,

I'll try to make it work but never been able to make it happen really.
Also i like to use AWN dock for ubuntu gutsy 7.10 on my acer aspire 3005WLMI
but doesn't work at all, i don't know why that should not work i read
everything and downloaded so many packages for it.
When i go on my apperence, under visual effect, there is extra!
once clicked it says desktop effect could not be enable.

Do you know why by any chance.

I'm getting used to ubuntu, whereas before i was under windows os.

Hi zack!

Firstly, what's exactly you graphic card name? Visual effect can be enabled on most Graphic card but some ATI cards still doesn't work with Compiz without trouble, so they are blocked. You can know which graphic card you use by typing this on a terminal without the quotes " : "lspci | grep VGA" . If you have a nvidia card, you must install restricted drivers using the restricted drivers manager in the System / Administration menu. If you have an ATI card, you must NOT install restricted drivers because these drivers does not support direct rendering, which is needed by Compiz. Next generation of restricted ATI drivers will work with Compiz but you'll have to wait for Hardy or maybe try to install your graphic card with envy ( which can be found in repositories, I guess ). I hope it helps :) You can also look for kiba-dock and cairo-dock which are beautiful!
