Bug Description

on Windows 10, I have installed Inkscape 0.92pre1 15110 (Oct 15 2016), 32 bit exe build from
 https://inkscape.org/en/~theAdib/galleries/inkscape-092/

on this build, the DOS output does not normally work (Bug 1633834). However I manually copied the inkscape.com file to make it work. I now get the output message:

(inkscape.exe:9584): Gtk-WARNING **: Could not find the icon 'object-visible'. The 'hicolor' theme
was not found either, perhaps you need to install it.
You can get a copy from:
        http://icon-theme.freedesktop.org/releases

this is a repeat of a previous Bug 446842 which was originally fixed in Oct 2012.

It's not exactly the same bug as an empty "index.theme" in "share/icons/hicolor" makes Inkscape crash this time...

Adding a dummy file with the following content works however:
    [Icon Theme]
    Name=hicolor
    Directories=

I'd add it right away, but I'm unsure if this might not cause other issues?
If anybody has any insight please let me know, otherwise I can commit a fix sometime next week...

I'm on Windows 10 64 bit, but I am running the 32 bit exe build for Inkscape. When I manually create an empty file called "index.theme" in the hicolor directory, this appears to solve the problem. That is, no crashes and no warnings. However I was not involved with the fix of the original problem, and it did involve OSX in some way, so there may be more to it than that.

Yes, the crash is with the 64-bit build (I guess it's due to different library versions from devlibs64).

I would probably create the file in "CMakeScripts/Install.cmake" and restrict the creation to Windows builds, so we wouldn't have to care about OSX...

Fixed in r15136.

I tested in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions without any obvious issues.
Since this workaround is obviously not worse than the empty file we had before it's probably pretty safe after all... In the worst case we can still revert.
