This error always comes when I start my laptop. Don't know how it came about.
Please fix it.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Arvind, if you don't know what runit is or why it's installed, I recommend uninstalling it with "apt-get purge runit". I think that should unblock the rest of apt.

If you do want runit, then I'm afraid you're probably going to have to figure out how to make it work on your system. It might not be easy.

Thank you sir. Actually I don't know the use of runit and whether it is
required for anything else. I'll try removing it anyway.
