Hi
I'm a Chinese Ubuntu user,so I use SCIM to input Chinese characters.
I use Ctrl+Space as the hot key to switch my input method.
If I press Ctrl+Space in the file browser,I cannot rename a file or directory. There is no response when I press a key.Maybe its a bug of SCIM.Today I found a metod to fix it.
Thanks!
Best Regards!

I just installed Gutsy.
As I started to play around with it, I noticed, that pressing shift key would freeze the keyboard input in File Browser, in the middle of renaming the folder.

As this happens, I can still rename directories through the terminal, and the change would be reflected in the File Browser, next time I open it.

Sometimes the "freeze" is permanent throughout the session, I think, and sometimes it works again if you just open a new window.

Either way, though, I have no way of inputting upper case characters in File Browser.

Is this a bug I should report?
I want to check with you all to make sure that I am not doing something silly, before I report it.

I am using Dell Inspiron 530s, and the mouse and keyboard that came with it, I think, connected through KVM from Belkin. It was working just fine with Kubuntu 7.10, until I wiped it out and installed Ubuntu just now.

I do have the SCIM for Japanese input, also.
However, this happens in English keyboard mode.

Hi,
This happens because SCIM is not configed correctly.I has found a solution to fix it.
a. Open a console window,type command "im-switch -s none"
It means that no input method is used.
b. Log out and then log in.
Now the iput method won't run automatically.
c. Edit this file:~/.scim/config
Change "/FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic false" to "/FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic true"
If we skip Step(a)&(b),the change here dosen't work.
d. console windows,type "im-switch -s scim"

Best wishes~
