Hi,

We support the 4.8 kernel in the HEAD our stable-2.8 branch of lttng-modules, we will tag and release 2.8.1 when the final 4.8 kernel is released. In the meantime, you can use the HEAD of this branch or cherry-pick the required commits from https://github.com/lttng/lttng-modules/tree/stable-2.8

Cheers,

Michael

Hello Andy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted lttng-modules into yakkety-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lttng-modules/2.8.0-1ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

10:36 <rbasak> apw, bdmurray: there's no SRU information in bug 1625072. I'm not sure what to check has been tested before releasing, since there's no test plan, and I don't know if a test plan has been considered or accepted by the SRU team.

rbasak: Updated the initial post with SRU info, I will admit I don't know enough about this package to know how to stress test it to be sure there are no regressions in actual functionality, but I wanted to make it so it would at least work instead of failing to build and be 100% useless. Updating to the full stable point releases would be better.

Here is a lttng smoke test script I'm working on, it works for Zesty, so should be a good test to see if lttng basic functionality works:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential babeltrace lttng-tools lttng-modules-dkms liblttng-ust-dev

And run the attaches script with sudo
