This only happens on desktop where the default Xmir renderer uses glamor.

And the docs say:
bool epoxy_has_ gl_extension( ) returns whether a GL extension is available (GL_ARB_ texture_ buffer_ object, for example).
Note that this is not terribly fast, so keep it out of your hot paths, ok?
