mate-panel freezes after login

Bug Description

Sometimes the mate-panel freezes after booting/login. Freezes in this case means that the indicators such as cpu usage are still alive, but clicking any starter is impossible, since hovering on icons is not recognized. A killall mate-panel spawns a new, working panel. Occurs after every 4-5 logins.

System: Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS, 4.4.0-31-generic

For now, it occurs after every login. Surprisingly, only on my desktop pc. I use Mate with the same configuration on my notebook without any freezes.

Could this be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1579421 ?

Are you using just one bottom panel?

Yes, it's indeed the same behavior.
