i cant get sound to work on my pc
I've looked for hours but nothing works
in pauvcontrol the HDMI / DisplayPort is unplugged
and all the other options for the HDA controller.

I THINK ITS A ALSA PROBLEM

I TRIED SOME USB SPEAKERS AND THEY WORKED.
STILL NO PLUG SPEAKERS OR HEADPHONES THOUGH.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

i tried the kernel and i couldn’t even log in it just loaded for a bit then
crashed and went back to login screen

Sorry for the delay. I haven’t been working on this bug because right now
I'm satisfied with a usb speaker that works.
The usb speaker also has a aux plug that I can use for speakers instead of
the computer's.
I don't want to install the latest kernel b/c I'm afraid I wont do it right
and it'll mess up stuff.
I'm pretty sure its just an audio jack problem and nothing to do with
Ubuntu. Tell me if/how I can take this off because I don’t want to waste
more peoples time.
