Description: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS

jean-luc@E-4300:~$ apt-cache policy pkgname

The error occurs during the repository configuration phase with the error box :
-------------------------------------------- Start ---------------------------------------------------
Impossible d'évaluer la mise à niveau

Un problème insoluble est survenu lors de la préparation de la mise à niveau.

 Ceci peut-être dû à :
 * la mise à niveau vers une version de développement d'Ubuntu ;
 * la version de développement d'Ubuntu est actuellement utilisée ;
 * des paquets logiciels non officiels, non fournis par Ubuntu.

Si rien de tout cela ne s'applique, veuillez signaler ce bogue en utilisant la commande « ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core » dans un terminal.

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled a PPA that provides Xorg packages. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains package version numbers greater than the release to which you are upgrading. You can revert the PPA by installing the ppa-purge package from the official Ubuntu archive and then running 'sudo ppa-purge oibaf'. After that you try upgrading and again and if it still fails open a new bug report. Thanks and good luck!

Hello,

This didn't solve the problem, unfortunately. There must be other packages that prevent the upgrade, which I can't find due to my poor level knowledge.
I must have installed something once, but what ?
So, as this case is set as closed or so, I think the best I have to do is save my home and personnal data and start from a fresh install.
I've tried this once (with no real success), I intend to read the pages more carefully and give it another try.

Many thanks for your time, sorry you wasted it because of me.

Best regards,

J.-Luc
