Unfortunately, we cannot sync this, without a lot of manual work. The best thing to do is to get this into the main Debian archive somehow, then ubuntu can get it synced from Debian proper.

Regardless of how gpac 0.4.4 is brought in from debian-multimedia, it should still be done whether via sync or manual upload. The chances of this entering Debian is near zero as gpac is legally encumbered by the MPEG4 related patents. Historically we've handled syncs of this before.

Anyway, I am assigning this to myself -- I am personally interested in gpac and will take on the responsibility of getting it into Hardy.

Rationale for update:

  - some workarounds for iPod file producing (special UUID needed) (-ipod option, auto on for .m4a and .m4v extensions)

This change alone is very very important; this will be the only tool in Ubuntu that can be used to produce .m4v that will be accepted by iTunes properly as a valid video file.

This will be handled as a merge as Ubuntu specific changes are required to get this package to build. I will do it.

Merge is ready for review/upload. Probably easiest is to use the debdiff on top of debian-multimedia source package http://debian-multimedia.org/pool/main/g/gpac/gpac_0.4.4-0.3.dsc

Built in pbuilder and upgrade and install tested in a chroot.
