Bug Description
First, this is my system specs:
Intel D875PBZ mother board
2.4 northwood
1gb ram
ATI 1600pro 256mb
19in HP w1907 monitor
I have tried all of the fixes for this "Blank Screen" on boot up from the live cd and nothing has worked to date. Just to make it very clear that I have not installed Gutsy nor do I plan to (YET). I just want to boot from the live CD and so fare non of the "FIXES" has worked. No matter what I do I just get the "Monitor going to sleep" message and thats it. The boot up itself seems to be going just fine up to the point of it going into the desktop, (sorry if that is not the correct phrase as I am new to Linux).
Just very, very frustrated at this point as I was hoping that Ubuntu wood but the ticket to get out of the Windows World. I just want to take is for a spin first before I try to install it just to see what it is like. I have herd nothing but good things about Ubuntu but at this point i am just stuck!
Hi,
could you have a look at the gutsy release notes : https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/GutsyGibbon /ReleaseNotes
in particular at : Blank screen with some ATI hardware Mode" "false"' to the driver section of xorg.conf. Bug #132716
People with ATI display adapters may get a blank screen when loading X due to the driver being unable to initialize certain hardware. Upstream is working on it, and hopefully we'll be able to release an update for 7.10 soon after the release. In the meantime, add 'Option "LVDSBiosNative
could you try the workaroudn and report back whether this worked for you or not ?
thanks,
Koen
