Just noticed this on all devices with latest image.
Its particularly weird when an incoming text notification is shown over the indicator content.

Weird thing is that sometimes the indicator stays still:

and sometimes it closes on its own:

If the indicator is opened when the phone is unlocked then it slides away and shows the greeter. If opened when locked, it doesn't slide away.

Naw, I would argue not a feature. It certainly regressed accidentally. I've got a fix up for it.

This bug was fixed in the package unity8 - 8.12+16.10.20160711-0ubuntu1

---------------
unity8 (8.12+16.10.20160711-0ubuntu1) yakkety; urgency=medium

  [ Josh Arenson ]
  * Add a SessionsModel to lightdm to support the greeter's session
    chooser
  * Add unity8-greeter package which contains a basic, but usable
    LightDM greeter. (LP: #1324602)

  [ Michael Terry ]
  * Make sure indicators and launcher hide when power button is pressed
    on greeter. (LP: #1595569)
  * Fix tablet greeter focus to be always-on, no longer hiding the OSK
or forcing a mouse click to type a password. (LP: #1435923)
