update manager's orange asterisk icon does not scale

Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
The orange icon in the notification area which indicates new updates looks good when the panel is set at a width of 24, but blurs out when you expand its thickness. I use a width of 48. All other icons in the notification area scale up well, but the orange asterisk looks fuzzy.
