Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an I/O error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

I did try sudo apt-get clean and sudo apt-get autoclean as well. It didn't resolve the problem. I ended up reinstalling Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and all is well now. Looks like 16.04 LTS may have some issues.

Bill,

Before I close this bug as invalid (as I'm unable to reproduce it), would you be willing to clarify why 16.04 may have some issues? It is unclear what you meant by that as it was reported for 14.04 and you stated to have reinstalled 14.04. I can see no other mention of 16.04.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

After a clean install of 16.04 LTS I went into the software center and attempted to install the unifi controller deb that I downloaded from the Ubiquiti forum site. After opening the deb in the software center I clicked install and nothing would happen. I was expecting it to say it was an invalid/dangerous deb and would select install anyway but that never came up. I'm sorry I don't have more info but I had to get the computer back up quickly and took the quickest path. I probably shouldn't have opened a bug report without the necessary data you need to look into it.

That's quite understandable. =)

Quite the contrary, although we were unable to verify the issue, as long as it is reported another user who is affect by it can provide the additional information when facing the same problem.

Thank you again for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please continue to submit any future bugs you may find.
