Bug Description

when I go to full screen in aisleriot I cannot use F11 or Leave fullscreen button to return to normal mode. It flicks back to normal then returns to full screen.
I have upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy during the past week.

System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual
Effects (tab), is set to 'none', and I cannot change it to either of the other options.

Nothing has changed. My computer used to change back and forth in feisty but
as soon as I upgraded to gutsy this has happened. Is there any way that I
can roll back to feisty and reapply gutsy, as there may have been some
setting that I didn't do correctly.
It opens in full screen mode, plays ok in it but : It still will not go out
of full screen mode no matter what I do.

I have the same problem, I don't known how I reached the state where it is impossible to leave the maximized state.

Could this be the "path" to the problem?
1) Maximize the program.
2) Play a game, then when it ask me if I want to play one more time out quit, choose quit.
3) Next time you start the program it starts maximized with the problem.

This was only a wild guess. (I don't use any visual effects.)

Using Gutsy, upgraded from installed Feisty version on Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop.

After upgrade, program worked normally for several weeks.

Program now starts in Fullscreen mode. F11 or clicking "Leave Fullscreen" button causes program to flick into windowed mode (no menu line visible) and immediately back to Fullscreen.

Not sure, but I think the problem started when the system went into Hibernate mode while Aisleriot was up and running.

It's happening to me right now. Don't know exactly how it started.
Aisleriot used to be able to flip between windowed/fullscreen mode OK,
but now it's stuck. Deinstall/reinstall doesn't help.

I can reproduce this on my system, Gutsy, since yesterday. I did not do anything special to AisleRiot or gnome-games.

I had the same problem with gnome-mines, but I solved it manually.
Start up gconf-editor and search for gnomine (assume its the same for aisleriot).
Went to /apps/gnomine and unclicked "FullScreen" and changed height and width from 1680x1050 (which is full screen for me) to something smaller.
Fixed the problem for me.

Thanks, it fixed my full screen mode in AisleRiot.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

is it possible to make the necessary changes in a config file? if so, where can it be found?

Sorry to take so long to reply.
I tried upgrading to 8.04, but that did not change the problem. I decided to
do a clean install.
When I installed Ubuntu 8.04 with clean install I have not had the issue
reoccur.
Thank you for your time and efforts.

Paula

I change this to New, because the issue is not yet fixed. I have this problem still under Intrepid Ibex. I don't use any visuall effects. I don't believe a clean new install is a "fix".

I have two computers with Ubuntu 8.10, and I can reproduce the fault on both computers.

1) Start AisleRiot
2) Make fullscreen press F11
3) Exit with Alt-F4

Next time you start the AisleRiot you can't exit the fullscreen with F11

I have to used the gconf-editor to uncheck the /apps/aisleriot/fullscreen to get it function normal again.
