Received additional error
The Install encountered an error copying files to hard disk.

[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/target/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/vdpau_drv_video.so'

Rest of message directs you to possible faulty hard disk.

I am running under Virtualbox on solid hardware base so I strongly doubt hardware is a problem.

This error hits all of the GUI Distribution Installs. In other words the only distribution not blown out of the water is Ubuntu Server.

Is this only happening with the 16.10 daily images? Can you see if it also happens with the Xenial image on the same setup? It can be downloaded from:

http://releases.ubuntu.com/xenial/

I downloaded and installed most of the Xenial Distros on the 22nd 2 days
after GA.
I just downloaded Ubuntu Desktop 64 from the URL you provided and it does
not have the problem.
