Bug Description

[Impact]
Loading screen doesn't disappear upon successful startup, making it difficult to actually use musescore.

[Test Case]
Open musescore. Note how the loading dialog doesn't disappear, ever.

[Regression Potential]
Slim to none. The patch is from upstream, and it simply resets the progress dialog for compatibility with Qt 5.5+ (which is present in Xenial and Yakkety).

The specific upstream fix appears to be here: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/commit/8974c1a223e5dc31390f1981c5dc530d349ffd14

Assuming this patch applies cleanly to the version currently in Xenial/Yakkety, I'll build an updated .deb and attach it to this bug for testing. Should be ready shortly.

Could someone please try the updated .deb files here and report back if it fixes the issue? Thanks!

Hello Alexandre, or anyone else affected,

Accepted musescore into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/musescore/2.0.2+dfsg-2ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

Could someone specifically still confirm the update now in xenial-proposed fixes the bug too?

As a regular user of this program I felt this is a great verification to do before going to bed.
I usually ignored the ever loading bar (what a shame), but I can confirm it is fixed in xenial-proposed.

The verification of the Stable Release Update for musescore has completed successfully and the package has now been released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions.
