Bug Description
For nut to work on my 7.10 installation, using a serial connection, it needs to be added to the dialout group.
Can group memberships not be sorted out as part of the installation?

Hi Sarah,
This is linked to 2 points: Debian/ 0.44.1- 3),
- nut was previously in the dialout group. There was a discussion
years ago on the Debian devel ml about this, and it was decided to
remove it for security reason, and add a mention in the README.Debian
file (check changelog.
- I've planned for 2.4 to merge a lot of configuration work upstream
(lib + helpers) that would then allow to fully rewrite and enhance the
debconf process.
This will address all the configuration related pain and problems.
But the path forward is really the "UPS integration into the Power Management": /blueprints. edge.launchpad. net/ubuntu/ +spec/integrate d-usb-ups- support
https:/
Though this is reserved to enumerated busses (so USB only ATM).
I would ove to see some planet blogging if you have a bit of time btw ;-)
