Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

I've just updated to Ubuntu 7.10 and set the window manager to 'compiz' using the new 'Appearence' dialog in the System->Preferences menu.

This breaks gedit, now, however, because Compiz has stolen the ctrl-alt-pgup and ctrl-alt-pgdn keyboard shortcuts for desktop switching. Not surprising, because I don't know of other programs that use this shortcut.

Could gedit please adopt either firefox standards (ctrl-pgup) or gnome-terminal standards (ctrl-pgup) or Windows standards (ctrl-TAB) rather than using something peculiarto just gedit?

Cheers
JP

ctrl-pageup is already used by the text widget to go at the line start that's why gedit has to use something else and that's not the only application, reassigning to compiz

Compiz doesn't have anything bound to those keys by default in Gutsy.

I don't know what 'in wall' means but I certainly didn't do anything to tweak my keybindings for compiz, so something wrong here is happening by default AFAICT.
