Bug Description

Binary package hint: rt2500-source

Ubuntu 7.10 drivers "out of box" do not work with Linksys wusb54g. Also reports of other rt2x00 devices not working. The rt2500usb driver does not work. There are many threads in Ubuntu forums on this. The latest serialmonkey drivers do work. Installing the latest daily rt2570 drivers from the serialmonkey.com websited fixed the problem. The "released" Ubuntu 7.10 drivers need to be upgraded.

I do agree, but the rt2500usb module works pretty well in both fedora 7-8 and suse 10.3, please have a look at

I fixed my WUSB54G issue by downloading and installing the latest rt2500 "legacy" driver from serialmonkey.com:
http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads

For build & install instructions:
See section " 4.4. Compile Newer Driver" in WifiDocs/Driver/RalinkRT2500:

Cheers,
Roy

I got that problem too when installing Ubuntu on my cousin's computer (it was our only problem, except that, everything was working great out of the box). I fix it as explained on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=588045

Any chance to see that fixed for Hardy?
