Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-
I recently installed Gutsy on my desktop that was earlier running on Feisty.
It is an AMD64 Machine with an Nvidia Chipset
It ran flawlessly under Feisty.
Soon after the fresh install I began to notice that i was getting timed out from ssh
connections on my local network on a random basis.
Then i checked by pinging various hosts and found that there was packet loss on every
host i pinged (upto 70%.....same packet loss if i pinged multiple hosts....each of them had the same packet loss)).
I figured that some network device on my network was misbehaving and decided to
replicate this on my notebook(feisty) after powering down the desktop . Notebook was working fine.
It was then apparent that the fault lay in the desktop( somewhere).
I tried to make a new profile in the network manager but the drop-down box would not drop down
and so I could not make a new profile.
I then installed Wicd (http://
This removed network manager completely.
After installing Wicd and setting up the IP's.....everything worked perfectly.
So I am assuming that something in the Network manager was causing the network card to reset every now and then.
or it was switching the profile on and off.
Thanks!

Hi there
do you still experience this issue with the current version of the application?, could you please try to reproduce this using the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron.
Thanks in advance
