I Always got this error when i tried to update the krenel ..

Possible fix:

wget http://ubuntu-master.mirror.tudos.de/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-firmware/linux-firmware_1.157_all.deb
sudo dpkg -i linux-firmware_1.157_all.deb
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

It works for me, give it a try :)
