Hi Brad,
Thanks for looking at this. I think I correctly followed the steps you requested, but I am not a programmer and am new to Linux, so please let me know if anything else is needed. Also, I left the access open for 1 day. If more is needed, please let me know.
As an added note, I found your email in my spam folder. I don't know why, but it is only because I have a habit of checking my spam and deleted items folders that I came across it. Maybe it would be good to check why it went to spam to avoid the loss of communications to others in the future.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Christopher,
The bios has been upgraded to the latest one available, v2.20 from Tobshiba, and the problem with the video driver continues. In fact, today it seems to be very frequent, more than with the old bios, though only in Firefox so far.
I believe I followed your instructions correctly in terms of updating the file. If anything else is needed, please let me know.
Thanks,

Jonathan Tigner, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.
As per http://
=PLL20C-00200C an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and
outdated BIOS is available (2.20). If you update to this following
https:/
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https:/
.
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.
Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.
Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed.
If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Christopher,
I tried version 16.04 after following the link below and installing xenial-
I don't know how you would like this written up or what information you would like. I can live with the occasional wonky screen if need be as it seems to self-correct if I switch to another application and then back. Still, something funny is going on. Perhaps it is a problem with my PC. - I used a toshiba system check tool and it seemed to indicate everything was okay.
Please let me know if you want me to pursue this further.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Christopher,
Quite honestly, it's been a bit since I used this computer, which is the only one I use with Linux. That is only a function of convenience as I have an old windows
based desktop that meets my general needs. I was prompted by your email to switch machines, and shortly after booting I received a message asking if I wanted to update my programs, which I did. Since then I have been using Ubuntu and haven't experienced any problems, so i can't respond to you with an example and can only assume that it has been resolved. I'll persist and if it happens again, I'll send you a picture. If the problem doesn't reappear by the end of the month, I'll change the status to resolved and send you an email to let you know.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Christopher,
The graphics problem has not re-occurred so far. Hopefully, you don't mind me asking a few questions.
1. I am using an external monitor as the laptop screen is small. Is that a problem in terms of identifying the problem? In other words, would it be specific to my laptop's screen?
2. Ubuntu 15.10, which I allowed to update seems very slow. It has also been unstable and automatically sent a report. At the time, I had both Firefox and Speed-dial Opera open. Earlier, during an update, it asked if I wanted to update to 16.something. Would that be better? - Please note that I am using an old machine, the specs of which are listed below.
3. In Firefox, I have repeatedly had an indication that a script is running but unresponsive, "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.
