Bug Description

In Gutsy when I insert a SD card into the Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 adapter I don't get the sd* device and cannot mount the media.
In Feisty with the very same hardware it used to work fine.

The requests apply to Ubuntu, while I'm running KUbuntu. Nonetheless, I've done something reasonable in order to get the needed output.
Please see the attachments and feel free to require for more information.

Hi there
Thanks for the information, could you try to mount by hand the SD card, just to identify where the problem is, it seems to be detected correctly by the kernel, try using the following command:

user@machine:~$ sudo mount -t vfat /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt

Also it'll be helpful if you try to reproduce this bug with a newly created user. Is this a clean install or upgraded from a previous installed system, for instance Gutsy RC or Feisty?.

Thanks in advance

Well, it works on this fresh new installation from the CD of Gutsy.

What I was expecting is:
1. a /dev/sd?1 device to be created and
2. a KDE window to pop up to ask for possible actions (like mounting under /media/...)

Those where the actions the system used to accomplish in the previous Feisty system.

I have some more details.
All removable media get recognized by the lower level system and their /dev/* files get created.
What's actually not working is the interaction with KDE: I can always manually mount the devices.
Under Feisty (with both KDE 3.5.6 and 3.5.8) I used to get a popup window suggesting for possible actions like
mounting under /media and so on.

Actually I'm not positive that kdebase is the right package, but I'll assign it anyway just to get the attention of the right people. If you know which is the correct package, please change it, so the report be accurate as possible.

Thanks.
