Error while upgrading to Kubuntu 7.10

Binary package hint: update-manager

I have a Compaq laptop with Athlon 64 X2 Turion processor, 1 GB RAM, nVidia graphics card. While installing 7.04 (Feisty), I encountered errors in the CD startup. The recommended solution for this (in the Ubuntu forums) was to disable acpi in the boot line. I did that, and today, I was trying to upgrade to Gutsy. After a few Adept crashes, I got to the stage where I couldfinally click on "Version Upgrade". It went on smoothly enough till it reached the following error.

"subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1"

I think the upgrade will continue, but it seems that this is related to the fact that the acpi was disabled.

maheshjagadeesan, sorry that this bug didn't get any attention sooner than it did. The log files show no evidence of what have been wrong. Did you fix this problem ?

Thanks for your mail. Well, I haven't had a chance to look into it much;
instead, I simply did a clean install.
