Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I am running Gutsy's Compiz with Xgl and I have the desktop in cube configuration. When I rotate the cube with my mouse to find the face that contains a program I'm looking for, the task bar for each desktop is the same as the desktop I was on when the rotate began. This means that if the window I am looking for is hidden behind another one on a different desktop, I have to flip through to every desktop in order to find it.

In order to fix the bug, create a different instance of the window list for each face of the cube and show them on the correct positions. This will make finding windows much easier and will improve usability.

First of all, I object to the "wishlist" status. This is a serious usability bug, and Compiz's major problem right now is usability. If Compiz wants to be taken seriously by the majority of desktop users, it has to step up to the plate and provide at least basic usability features such as being able to see which windows are on which desktops -- and this bug demonstrates that that particular feature is not in place. I call that a bug, not a pie-in-the-sky wish.

Second, if this bug is a duplicate, I would appreciate that it be marked as such so that I can see and contribute to the bug that it duplicates.

Thanks,
Ryan

The standard compiz configuration work correctly your issue are due to the fact that you are using the cube plugin that's why the bug has been categorized as wishlist. I didn't look for the exact number because we get hundred of duplicates a week and I prefer spending effort working on fixing bugs rather than looking for exact bug numbers. Anyway marking as duplicate of bug #153691, there is also bug #63208 and some other similar ones
