Bug Description

Sometimes I have an mp3 which the music app refuses to play.

The music app recognizes the file, but if I click on it, i shows a track length of 0:00 and when I mark the play button nothing happens. Even worse: after clicking this mp3, the music app refuses to play any other mp3. I need to restart it to get it working again.

I tried the same file with rhythmbox and it plays without any problems, so the mp3 is not corrupted.

I have an example, for which I can reproduce the bug:
==========================================
Download this (rather huge) track from soundcloud:
https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/217185545/download?client_id=02gUJC0hH2ct1EGOcYXQIzRFU91c72Ea&oauth_token=1-138878-182387169-66fbd65d7f580
or download under: https://soundcloud.com/radiobounce/folge299?in=radiobounce/sets/episodes

afterwords copy the mp3 from your download folder to the music folder on the phone (sd card or harddisk doesnt matter)

than start music app and try to play the Track

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Looking at the link, the title of the audio file has a hash symbol (#) in it. Does this also exist in the filename? As then this will be a duplicate of bug 1449790.

Sounds like media-hub is crashing. Remarking this as a media-hub issue instead of music-app.

Also, to ahayzen's point, try changing the filename so that it doesn't have a '#' in it and see if it then plays in music-app.

Indeed. Renaming the file without using "#" does solve the problem. I can
now play the mp3
