If you can figure out how to reproduce this bug in a freshly installed virtual machine, that would probably help.

Thanks for trying to find a way to reproduce this.
I'm not sure what your question is about, but the important point is 'freshly installed', so that it can be easily reproduced by everyone.
If you have a spare partition, you can also use that, but using a VM should be easier.
