Hi,

I'm the maintainer of sane-backends at Debian.

The release 1.0.25+git20150528 was uploaded from Debian "experimental".
:]
This directory contains packages and tools which are still being developed, and are still in the alpha testing stage. Users shouldn't be using packages from here, because they can be dangerous and harmful even for the most experienced people.
It is highly incomprehensible that Ubuntu uses a package from this repository for an official release.

PS: Hi Alberto,

even with the increase the priority to high the problem won't solved.

Phil Richey, you are asking what you are supposed to do? I have several suggestions

1) First and most important, calm down. You are using software you are not paying for, yet are incredibly demanding.
2) Don't install software from random places on the net, especially since you have no clue what you are doing.
3) Don't mix Debian and Ubuntu packages unless you know what you are doing.
4) Don't open invalid tickets when ignoring #3

The issue you are seeing is a direct result of ignoring #3, closing as invalid, not an issue in Ubuntu, but self-inflicted pain.

I have to apologize. #1 is valid, but #2 to #4 are not. Reopening.
