Bug Description

The original video from my webcam looks fine, but when I've imported it, the video looks like it's been inverted and staticy; when I've saved the video to be sure, it came out as messed up as it was.

I have the same problem, but using transitions. I'm using Manjaro XFCE and I tried to put a transition, but the transition looks distorted and ugly. I tried to do the same but using Xubuntu, but it's the same.

Same here since upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10 while using the image transitions.
Look like that one of the libraries has a problem with the color space / palette - 90's are back!

Hum the problem seems to come from mlt. What version did you get on 15.10 ?
And the solution is still the same : upgrade it.

Same problem here, OpenShot was working fine until upgrading to Ubuntu 15.10.

OpenShot v1.4.3

If you mean "melt", the version installed is 0.9.8

Argh. The last. Damned. You should take a look for the next version of mlt.

I'm having the same problem. I'm running XUbuntu 15.10

When I preview the videos from the clip library, they look fine.
But when I drag a video down into the editing area, the colors get distorted.

If i play the same video clip directly with ffplay or melt commands, there's no problem.

Is there anything else I can do to figure out where the problem is?

Same problem here, Debian Stretch, OpenShot 1.4.3, melt 0.9.8. Also saw it on different hardware with Debian Jessie (openshot 1.4.3, melt 0.9.6).

I'm not sure the fault is with melt (or maybe not directly). The clips play fine in melt, i.e.:

$ melt myclip1.mts myclip2.mts myclip3.mts

...all play fine. Playing in melt with a filter works too.

I found a workaround that seems to make Openshot behave:
-right-click on the first video clip in the timeline, click properties, then Effects
-add a Letterbox effect with Border Width set to 0.0, Transparency = No
-CHECK "apply effects to all clips on this track"
-click Apply

The project now play and export fine, at least for me :-) YMMV.
other effects work too, Letterbox seems to have little impact on processing time.

Thanks for the workaround nemoinis, it works for me!

I've noticed that applying any video effect seems to work too, but the Letterbox with your recommended settings leaves the video as it should be.
