Bug Description

This bug is created for Feature Freeze Exception, to request that
the pigment library be updated from 0.3.1 to 0.3.2. This include:

  libpigment0.3-1
  libpigment0.3-dev
  python-pigment

The new versions of these packages will soon be in debian
unstable. They are already updated in pkg-gstreamer svn. I
provide packages here:

deb http://elisa.fluendo.com gutsy main
deb-src http://elisa.fluendo.com gutsy main

It's important to get this new upstream version in Gutsy because
it fixes quite a few important bugs:

crashers:

- https://code.fluendo.com/pigment/trac/ticket/154
- https://code.fluendo.com/pigment/trac/ticket/158

memory leaks:

- https://code.fluendo.com/pigment/trac/ticket/165

This is also important because it much improves the behavior of
the elisa package (for which I'll request a UVF as well).

Regards,
Philippe

Does it work with the current elisa or are concurrent upgrades to both
required?

Elisa 0.3.2 won't work with Pigment 0.3.1. Will create a bug for sync request of Elisa after lunch. :)

During the 0.3.2 release cycle the Pigment developers mainly focused on:

- memory management issues
- performance issues
- and mouse/touchscreen support
- more unittests

These points all together allowed us to run Elisa on a UMPC (Samsung Q1) running Gutsy and generally improve Elisa as it heavily depends on Pigment for all the UI operations.

You can see the build status of Pigment there: http://build.fluendo.net:8220/

Pigment-based applications will now be far more reliable, we tracked quite a few segfaults on machines using various hardware (graphics cards) and video drivers.
