Bug Description

After I use Mixxx for a while (typically 20-30 minutes or so), once I press the play button, suddenly, the play button doesn't work anymore, from my MIDI controllers to the software on my keyboard to when I try to click the play/pause button on the computer physically. And when this happens, as many times as I press the play/pause button, it still won't stop the track. I've tried resetting my controllers and closed and opened the software but the issue still occurs.

Running Mixxx 1.11.0 64bit

Operating system: Windows 8.1
CPU architecture: Intel i7 4790K @3.60 GHz
Video and sound hardware: Using ASIO4ALL v2 with Nvidia graphics
Controllers used: Ion Discover DJ controller and a Launchpad S

Steps to reproduce the problem:
When I encountered this problem, it happened to me while I was mixing using both left and right decks. After mixing for around 20 to 30 minutes,, when I press the play button at any given time, it will not play or pause the track that is on the deck. And this problem appears for both the left and right decks.
I was trying to make a one hour mix for an event (was not recording the mix yet) but halfway into the mix, the play/pause button stopped working.

Maybe this is related to Bug 1466606? Are you using hotcues?

No, I am not using hotcues.
The situation that Bug 1466606 has is that once you set a hotcue when a song is paused, when you go to play it again, it doesn't stop playing, but you can fix the problem by simply restarting Mixxx.

For me, this isn't the case. Whenever this happens, even if I restart Mix, the problem will still be there. I am not using any hot cues on my DJ controller. I am using the default keys for the DJ controller and the Launchpad.

I was messing around with only my DJ controller and Mixxx doesn't seem to have the play button problem. I think it has to do with me connecting my launchpad as well as my DJ controller.

Can you reproduce the issue only using your Launchpad S without the Ion Discover DJ?

I have the same Issue, and I'm using hotcues, which means there are hotcues in my tracks (I don't trigger them)

Thank you for the report.

Which Version of Mixxx do you use?

Is the latest 1.12 beta also effected?
You will find it here http://downloads.mixxx.org/builds/1.12/release/

Is any controller involved?
Which OS do you use? Do you use Mixxx on a touch-screen laptop?

Does the issue also occur after 20 to 30 min, or is there an other receipt to reproduce the issue?

Changed in mixxx:
milestone: none → 1.12.0
importance: Undecided → High

Ok, I checked it again today, and actively avoid Bug 1466606 mistakes. Till now (4 hours of playing) there was not PLAY CUE shenanigans. So I think I accidentally pushed some hotcue buttons, the other days.

My OS is Funtoo, and I'm using Mixxx 1.11, I have a normal Thinkpad x200 (no touchscreen).

Here are my compile flags ( if that helps):
$ equery uses mixxx
[ Legend : U - final flag setting for installation]
[ : I - package is installed with flag ]
[ Colors : set, unset ]
 * Found these USE flags for media-sound/mixxx-1.11.0:
 U I
+ + aac : Enable support for MPEG-4 AAC Audio
 - - debug : Enable extra debug codepaths, like asserts and extra output. If you want to get meaningful backtraces see
                  https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Quality_Assurance/Backtraces
 - - doc : Add extra documentation (API, Javadoc, etc). It is recommended to enable per package instead of globally
 - - hid : Build with HID controller support
 + + mp3 : Add support for reading mp3 files
 - - mp4 : Support for MP4 container format
 - - pulseaudio : Disables media-sound/pulseaudio support for mixxx with pasuspender
 - - shout : Enable shoutcast support
+ + wavpack : Add support for wavpack audio compression tools

Thank you for the update.
Please keep an eye on it.
If it does not happen again with 1.12, we can close the bug.
