Bug Description

======difficulty finding correct kubuntu gusty 7.10 beta bug reporting tool sorry, I DID look please forward this to the correct team thanks ======
packages digiKam and gtkam kubuntu gusty problem digiKam = failed to auto-detect camera, also problem with gtkam
First, the camera worked fine with Feisty kubuntu and ubuntu . It auto-configured and downloaded photos with ease (no hardware changes since) now running kubuntu Gusty (DL'ed & installed everything yesterday Oct.03) and the camera currently works fine with XP on another P4. The camera is a stock Canon Digital Rebel XT . . . In other words, this is not a hardware problem.
kubuntu Feisty changed to kubuntu Gusty using the .iso cd with no auto-detected errors is running on a P4VMM2 mobo with a Celeron P4 @ 1.8 GHz, Roadrunner, RAM at 0.5 gig-ish 4 USB ports (camera tried in front & rear ports with Firestarter on & off)
digiKam = quote = failed to auto-detect camera
gtkam = quote = could not list folders in "/" an error occurred on the io-library ('Bad parameters') Could not find USB device (vendor Ox4a9. Product Ox30ee). Make sure this device is connected to the computer. end quote (it is\was and both listings for the camera settings were tried)
Sorry I can't help you more . . . computer science is my hobby not my field
addendum (1); I'm 6 mos. into kubuntu and my XP actually has cobwebs on it from lack of use.
addendum (2); I would like to see a lower res on Gusty desktop offered ( I'm 56 and my eyesight isn't what it was and the magnifier is uncool . . . it's for old people!)

There has been made a fix to libgphoto2 yesterday, which may address this.
Please make sure that you have libgphoto2 version 2.4.0-2ubuntu2 (or later) installed.
See bug 145239.

Clayton Oliver (claytonol) wrote : next bug . . . digiKam save as function causes crash

Great job on fixing bug 149156. It now works as it
should at detecting my camera and displaying my
photographs. However, in digiKam, when I use the save
as function the program vanishes and a crash handler
program appears. I am currently running Gutsy loaded
from an .ios cd on oct.03 with no auto-detected
errors. All updates have been added (long download)
prior to this problem. Gutsy is running on a P4VMM2
mobo with Celeron P4 @ 1.8 GHz, Roadrunner, RAM at 0.5
gig-ish a small 6.5 Gig IDE HDD. addendum: You
should be proud Kubuntu is one GREAT operating system.

@Oliver: first ,thx for your kind words.

About 'next bug ...'. Please open a new bug report for every problem you find.
I'm notified about every bug for digikam package and will have a look.

 a) I'm not really sure where your 'save as' problem occors. Please describe the
steps to reproduce the crash
b) What type of image you used. Raw, jpeg ... Attach a picture that creates
the crash

I'll mark this bug as fixed released (duplicate of #145239) as the digikam problem
is fixed. If you still see a problem with gtkam, open a new bug report for it.
