This package falls under the "cloudware/hardware enablement" exception. This package is being introduced to support multiple public clouds.

Accepted xe-guest-utilities into each of precise, trusty, and vivid. Since this is a new package, regression testing is not required in order to publish this to -updates. Please do your own verification of the package's correct functioning, as appropriate, and set the verification-done tag when complete.

The verification of the Stable Release Update for xe-guest-utilities has completed successfully and the package has now been released to -updates. Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being unsubscribed and will not receive messages about this bug report. In the event that you encounter a regression using the package from -updates please report a new bug using ubuntu-bug and tag the bug report regression-update so we can easily find any regressions.

Unfortunately due to the dependency on cloud-init did the introduction of this package break a server which had already the vanilla XenServer xe-guest-utilities installed. I opened bug 1496940 on this issue.

For those who are "broken" due to this change, please track Bug: #1496730

HOWEVER, please note:
1. Cloud-init will reset your SSH host keys
2. After two minutes, your guest will continue to boot.

We are in the process of SRU'ing a fix, and I apologize for the error.
