Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-vpnc

Network Manager fails to connect to a network using the NULL cipher while using the command line vpnc client works correctly using:
vpnc --enable-no-encryption

NetworkManager should ask the user to confirm if he agrees on using the NULL cipher (and also allow remembering the choice) for the network being used and if the user agrees tries to connect again using the --enable-no-encryption flag.

The attached patch fixes the problem in a very trivial manner (note that this is the same behavior as cisco-vpnclient)

I've also looked at this issue and wrote a patch that adds an option in the configuration window for the VPN connection to enable/disable allowing null encryption. It also obviously works for exporting to pcf (as a X-NM flag, though) and importing. I couldn't test it on an actual vpn tunnel though, but maybe this week I will be able to. I'm very confident it would work since the options are in the vpnc documentation.

The attached patches fixes the problem by adding a checkbox in the configuration dialog and activating the required parameters when the call is passed to vpnc. I'm sorry for the format, it's the copy that would go as patch 04 in cdbs -- means you also need to have the other ubuntu patches applied.

It seems that the patch I had previously submitted was missing a part. This new attachment addresses the issue.

I'll try to generate a debdiff tonight if I have a chance, or tomorrow.

The patch works perfectly now, I have been using it for over a week without any glitch.

The attached debdiff should fix the issue, as mentioned before, by adding an option to allow null encryption from the vpn configuration dialog. The patch has also been submitted upstream (bug #507530).
