Hi Seth, That hasn't been effective. It keeps saying inconsistent.

?.

Thanks, Bruce

Thanks seth.

Now I still don't have access to my files eccept through individual
programs.

If I use gimp, or open office i can get to files.

I can even send attachments but I have no folder ICON on the side-bar or
if I find a folder through the search-button(circle at the top of side-bar
w/ 3 short line coming out of it) it is still just a map of what is in the
folder. [Like a disc analization.]

I got a message saying that some "indexes couldn't be down-loaded? and were
ignored" {not sure weather they were undownloadable or what?}

Thanks, Bruce

That sounds like an odd configuration; for next steps, I'd try this:

sudo apt-get update

Some warnings about old indexes are fine to ignore (Translations_EN, for example, isn't really a big deal) but others may indicate that your mirror is out of date or broken. Maybe run the command a few times, you may get a different mirror the second or third runs.

Once that runs well enough, try this:

sudo apt-get -u dist-upgrade

That will download any new security or reliability updates, and hopefully run some previously-blocked maintenance scripts.

Thanks

Thanks Seth, I will try that later.

I have tried update but not 2 or 3 times in a row.
Never tried -u dist-upgrade.

Hi Seth, That last message was suposed to have gone out days ago.

I wanted to get back and share the news.
That seemed to have gotten rid of the

(need for gvfs-fuse -re-make-consistant) but

I still can only access my files thru a program. All files are available
thru Gimp or open-office- send an attachmentor the like, but when I try to
see a FILE or FOLDER I jusyt get a pie shaped diagram showing wht that
folder consists of. [as in a ATTACHED]

Thanks, Bruce

It might be best to file a new bug for the problem you've got now -- this one was automatically generated for the upgrade problem.

Run "ubuntu-bug nautilus" and go from there, it ought to walk you through what needs to be done.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
