Fonts in GUI garbled, missing characters on Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd Gen

Bug Description

Quite often the characters in GUI menus(e.g. WiFi dropdown, Calendar dropdown) and terminal become garbled, unreadable and/or missing. In the same time all is OK in e.g. browser. It often happens after resume, but sometimes during normal operation. After a while(1-2-...10 minutes) the problem is gone.
Steps to take: normal Ubuntu 14.04 install
What happens: after resume or normal operation symbols is top row GUI menus become garbled and unreadable
What should happen: graphics should be stable

PS. There is a bug filed(https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1432194) but it was unproperly marked as resolved and closed, team unsubscribed, Hence I am filing a new one.

No, it was closed for a reason. You need to install latest updates or migrate to a supported stack (lts-utopic stack from 14.10 is no longer supported, apart from the kernel)

What latest updates I need to install? Can you point me where to look for them? I always install all proposed updates and I thought as 14.04 is LTS these are the latest stable stuff.
