Printer status: printer LazaJet3 is idle. enabled since Sun 19 Jul 2015 18:10:08 BST
    Required plug-in status: Installed
    Communication status: Good

Running hp-test page :
Popup notifies the job is complete, but the printer does not respond at all, and cups interface shows this error for the job:

CUPS jobs status:
stopped
"/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed"

At this point the printer does not even print a test page from the LCD console (the console itself is responsive), it needs to be turned off and on again.

Printer works fine from Windows boot.

So this particular printer was first supported in hplip 3.13.11. So i downloaded the immediate next version (3.14.1), and used that and everything works beautifully. Solved.

Same problem, updating to the new hpcups doesn't print to my MFP M177fw. Document just gets listed as 'stopped' Was working before the July update.

This is an issue with hplip 3.15.7 drivers. I have provided the patch for the same in the bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1476920.
This issue will be resolved in our next version of hplip.

If you wish to go back to hplip-3.15.6. You can download the drivers from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hplip/files/hplip/3.15.6/hplip-3.15.6.run/download
