Bug Description

I mentioned this a year or so ago, it hasn't been corrected. I use transfers to form farm fields and parking lots. More often then not it takes several transfers to replicate the irregular shape of these. Where the transfers overlap OR appears to create a thin shadow around the edge of each transfer... these do not exist in MSTS.

Hi James,

I misunderstood this at the time. I did do a bit of an experiment with a transfer I created a while back, a gravel road where the sides had 1 bit transparency but the ends did not. I placed three of these, with two overlapping and the third right on top of them but smaller, and you could not see where the transparent portion overlapped but you could see the line where there was no transparency used.

I'll have a go at giving the transfer a one pixel transparency on the four sides and hope that take care of the shadows.

Thanks.

Paul :-)

Morning James,

I've done a couple of experiments with adding an alpha channel around the textures for transfers and it's still a problem.

I first added a one pixel alpha around the transfer. It appeared to be working so I did the same for the other four transfers along with their snow counterparts. I was puzzled to still see the outlines when testing on a winter activity so I redid all thinking I had screwed something up along the way. This morning I tried again, the closest field to where my train starts looked fine but I let the train run a ways and was surprised to see a larger field further down the track that used the same transfers still was showing an outline.

I started thinking it must have something to do with the size of the transfer and ran another test, this time doubling the size of the alpha to two pixels wide. I went back to the second field and saw that small and medium-small transfers had no outline anything larger still had outlines.

This becomes a real problem when you consider the two pixel alpha transfers that are larger them 50 x 50 are still showing outlines and I had many fields that are 500 x 500. I'm already seeing gaps and openings between fields when they are butted up to each other at corners.

Is there something you can do at your end, if I have to put a 20 pixel alpha around each transfer to get the larger transfers to work in OR, it will make some smaller transfers disappear and leave gaps around every transfer.

Paul :-)

A bug mitigation has been uploaded in x.3575. The border colour has been changed from alpha black to alpha green/brown. If the transfer is in the "Snow" subfolder the border colour is an alpha almost white.
