Bug Description

The Arduino IDE is garbled and unusable. see attached screenshot.

I also atached a 'ubuntu-bug' report, but I cannot tell if you got it?

Maybe there is a requirement for the Sun JAVA JRE or SDK?

Any help would be really good!
Thanks,
Bob

A temporary workaround I have found for this problem is to resize the IDE window until the text renders properly. Do you have text issues in other programs or just arduino?

Hi,

I have no display issues with any programs.

Thanks for looking at this, but I have since installed the Arduino IDE
manually from the arduino.cc website and no longer use the version from the
Ubuntu repo so I have no follow up to this old bug.

I would assume that most people use the more up to date version from the
website rather than the version in the repo because the version info in the
repo does not correspond to the arduino IDE's proper version number so
there is no way of knowing what you will get if you install from the repo...

Thanks for taking a look anyway!
Cheers,
Bob

I can confirm this issue using the version in the Ubuntu Software Center on 15.10. Extremely annoying, and makes working with the IDE almost impossible.

Also, like mentioned above, uninstalling the 1.0.5 version from the Software Center and manually installing 1.6.7 from the Arduino website resolved the issue. We really need an updated package.
