Bug Description

This is not an issue with my Warty i386, but appears consistently on Hoary PPC
and Hoary AMD64:

I have a Nautilus window open with a bunch of media files. If I double-click a
movie, xine launches fine. Quit xine and then focus is lost from the foreground
window to the desktop. Same thing if I doulble-click an image file and go to
(whatever the default image-viewer is; if memory serves it's called) Eye of
GNOME. After I alt-F4 or Ctrl-Q to exit the program, the focus returns to the
desktop not to the folder I was just in.

I call this a bug of major severity solely because it's the sort of thing that
would trip up both Mac OS and Windows users experiencing this for the first time...

how does this bug depends on #3159 ?

That works fine on my box. What kind of focus are you using ?

Further info.: both my PPC and AMD64 Hoarys are the Array 7 release.

Following Sebastian's advice, checked the "gnome-window-properties" settings (no
idea how I would've found that through the GUI), and "Select windows when the
mouse moves over them" is unchecked and "Raise selected windows after an
interval" is both unchecked and greyed-out.

Now I find that while this the focus-falling-back-to-desktop is a reproducible
bug across PPC and AMD64 architectures (haven't tested i386 Hoary yet), it seems
to be just a xine problem as Totem Player drops focus back to the originating
window just fine.

xine is an universe component, it doesn't use this bugzilla but feel free to
open a bug on malone (http://launchpad.ubuntu.com/) for it

Focus problem like this happen with many applications for me. I have example pidgin in corner and in front then click desktop and no response until I manually alt-tab to show desktop. Same can happen with firefox where firefox appear in front but actually I click on desktop that is not visible. Change on focus by clicking with mouse seems not to work at all.
