Binary package hint: update-manager

latest update (todays caused multiple crashes in the GUI Panels first, then update manager, then "hal-lpadmin" all in a row.

Usability Resolved after Nvidia restricted driver reinstalled.

Not sure why its crashing, but I was able to fix the pygtk problems by making the default python version 2.4

While this may not be recommended, it did allow me to upgrade to hardy.

See /usr/share/python/debian_defaults

Also, you must change the update script to use python2.4, and change the symlink in /usr/bin/python.

Then call the update script from the console,

sudo /tmp/tmpDirItWasExtractedTo/hardy --frontend DistUpgradeViewText
