In Split Screen Mode, Click Maximize, Window Disappears

Bug Description

I've been using Libre Writer in split screen mode, using ctrl+Super+rightcursor, placing the libre writer window on the right hand side of my screen. All good.

When I click on the maximize button, however, the window disappears. I can sometimes find it by moving my cursor around at the top left corner of the screen and an expand (upsidedown 'L') appears and I can stretch the window back out again.

But when I hit maximize, from split screen mode, it should maximize rather than disappear.

I hope this makes sense and can be fixed.

Jim.

Jim Stokes, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1444494
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Also, are you using compiz?

I get this message when I run what you asked: "You need to run 'sudo
apt-get install python-apport' for apport-collect to work." When I ran
the 'sudo' command as directed, I got a bunch of errors, so your command
still did not work.

According to Ubuntu Software Centre, I have apport installed. When I
type 'apport' in the terminal, I get 'command not found'.

I do not know if I'm using compiz, probably not.

I hope this helps you fix the bug.

Jim.

Got this message: ERROR: You need to use apport-collect for updating an
existing bug

Ran apport-collect and got this message: You need to run 'sudo apt-get
install python-apport' for apport-collect to work.

Ran sudo apt-get install python-apport and all seemed to go ok.

Ran what you had suggested and it didn't work.

Ran apport-collect and it asked me for a report number. Any idea what
report number I should insert?

Thanks for your help. Jim.

Sorry, I'm very new to linux and Ubuntu. Here's what I got:

I authorized access via the web page, and what you see above is what I
got. By the way Libreoffice is installed and is working fine. I also
noticed that when in split screen mode, the problem of maximizing occurs
when I have a full screen underneath of Chrome. I haven't tried it with
other software running underneath.

I hope this helps.

Okay, thanks.
The install worked. Then I ran the report and clicked <send> in the
pop-up that appeared with the report. Is there anything else I need to do?

Jim Stokes, for future reference, the reporting LibreOffice bugs procedure may be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOfficeBugWrangling , which covers all the steps you have done so far.

Moving forward:
+ Does this window issue occur with other programs as well, or does it seem localized to LibreOffice?
+ Is it consistently reproducible, or does it happen intermittently?

I haven't noticed this occurring with other programs, just noticed with LIbreOffice Writer and Chrome because I often write in one window and watch a streamer on the other.

I would say that it is consistently reproducible.

Sorry, not much help on that.

Jim.

Jim Stokes, this is more likely a compiz/unity issue, given that it's reproducible with more than one program (I've personally experienced this behavior in gnome-session-flashback+compiz).
